Summer Lane Primary School will provide a child-centred, happy, secure and stimulating environment, which is inclusive of all learners so that they achieve skills for life, tolerance of all and fulfil their personal potential.

Summer Lane Primary School is a community school. It was opened in September l999 after the successful amalgamation of St Matthew's Infant and Keir Street Junior Schools.

The school admits 40 children into the reception class (F2) during the year. In the academic year 2007/2008 there will be an estimated 303 children on roll, including 52 children attending our nursery during sessions each lasting for two and a half hours.

During the 2004-05 academic year a new Foundation classroom was built which is attached to the Nursery to create a Foundation Unit.
