Welcome to Class 2.
Working in this class in Miss Elsworth and Mrs Kwasniak. As we approach the Summer term our year 2's will be having their SATS 'quizzes. Feel free to pop in for a chat if you have any worries or questions or advice on how you can support your children through them. As a school the wellbeing of our children is the most important thing, so as a school we approach these 'quizzes' in a manner which does not cause anxiety or distress.
What we will be leaning about.
As we enter the summer term, we have lots of exciting things planned. Our new topic will be 'Oh I do like to be beside the seaside'. This topic is known for being a favourite of the children of Summer Lane and it gives us lots of learning opportunities. We will look at the history of the seaside, comparing our 'modern day' holidays to those of the Victorian period. We will focus on: the clothes people wore, forms of entertainment such as Punch and Judy shows and much, much more! In geography we will be looking at the geographical features of the seaside comparing a seaside village to where we live. In addition to this we will also learn all about the UK locating the 4 countries and their capital cities. This topic will also allow us to explore marine life and look at the animals and habitats of sea life creatures. We will also be able to look at the lives of significant individuals such as Grace Darling and Mary Anning.
Will be taught on a Monday and Thursday. Please ensure that your child brings both their indoor and outdoor kit. Children should not wear earrings in PE (no plasters) - if your child forgets to remove them they will not be able to participate.
