Welcome to Class 2.
Working in this class in Miss Elsworth, Mrs Kwasniak and Miss Yates. Please come in for a chat if you have any questions as we are here to support you and your children.
Homework will be given out on a Friday and needs to be returned by the following Wednesday so that this can be marked and so that we can give out new learning tasks. Homework will consist of 1 x reading comprehension and 1 x maths homework. Homework projects will also be given to your children and you will be informed of this via a newsletter.
Reading is the key!
Here at Summer Lane we value reading as one of the most important parts of your child's development. The more your child read the more they will learn and it will help build on their vocabulary which helps develop their literacy skills for writing. Please help and support the development of your child's reading by listening to your children read and asking them questions about what they have read and asking them to recall stories or facts they have learnt from what they have read. As part of a whole school reading incentive we will check reading diaries to see if your child has read, the more they read the more points they will earn, so help class 2 become reading champions!
Will be taught on a Monday and Thursday. Please ensure that your child brings both their indoor and outdoor kit. Children should not wear earrings in PE (no plasters) - if your child forgets to remove them they will not be able to participate.
What we will be learning about.
During Autumn term 2 we will be learning about significant people and finding out about why they are important. Alongside this, this year marks the centenary celebration of WW1. We will be linking this to our topic and we will be learning about the lives of key individuals from this era.
