Hello and welcome to Class 6!
We are a mixed Year 3 & 4 class of 30 children. Our teachers are Miss Webb (Monday to Wednesday a.m.) and Miss Hattersley (Wednesday to Friday). We are supported by Mrs Bates.
This term our topic is Ancient Egypt so be prepared for lots of history, geography, art and stories about one of the greatest civilizations of the past! Our literacy work will also be linked to this; the children will be reading 'The Egyptian Cinderella' by Shirley Climo and writing their own version of the story. As part of their non-fiction writing the children will be learning all about ancient Egyptian farming and writing a non-chronological report.
P.E Days - Wednesday and Friday (p.m.)
Indoor P.E kit - black shorts and a plain white t-shirt.
Outdoor P.E kit - black tracksuit bottoms / leggings with a white t-shirt, trainers and a fleece / hoodie when the weather is cold.
Please put your names in your clothing to avoid a mountain of lost property!
Also, please take out any earrings and tie long hair back for health and safety reasons. Adults in school cannot help a child with their earrings!
Homework will be given out on Friday and should be returned by Wednesday. It will consist of a piece of maths linked to the work done in lessons and a reading comprehension. Weekly spellings will also be given out to learn; spelling tests will be on a Wednesday.
As we all know, being able to read is a vital life skill. Here are our Top Ten Tips for being a better reader.
Reading is the Key!
The expectation is for children to read regularly - at least 3 times a week. Each child will have a Reading Record for their reading to be logged both at school and at home.
We are looking forward to a really exciting half term and can't wait to get stuck into our work and achieving new things. We look forward to seeing you all and getting to know you!
