Afternoons:
Our afternoons are filled with our foundation subjects. We have different subject lessons each day.
Monday - Science
Tuesday - Computing & Indoor P.E.
Wednesday - Art or Design Technology & Music or French
Thursday - PSHE or R.E. & Outdoor P.E.
Friday - History or Geography & Special Mentions Assembly
At the end of each day, before we go home, we also have story time, where we will be making our way through our top recommended reads for Year 3.
Please remember P.E. kits on P.E. days and remove earrings prior to P.E. days if you wear them.
Lunches
Please let us know via the Gateway app before 8am whether you would like to order a school dinner or bring a packed lunch. Don't worry if you forget, we can record dinners during registration.
Book Bags
Please bring your book bag to school each day. We will change reading books once they have been read at home and at school. Re-reading really helps to develop fluency and more detailed recall of the texts. Reading journals will be sent home in the red book bag. These are now for recording home reads only and we have another system in school for recording school reads.
Homework
Homework will continue to be set on Friday via our Class Dojo page.
Homework will consist of:
- Maths activity linked to the work we have been doing in class
- Spellings
- Times Tables Rock Stars
- Reading (book bag book and/or book of choice)
- Comprehension activity
A homework book will be sent home in the first week of school. This is to be kept at home. Answers to the homework will be uploaded onto Class Dojo so children can self-assess their work.
The same text will be used for 3-weeks for the comprehension homework. This is to encourage re-reading and fluency development. Each week however, the question focus will change. E.g. Text 1 - week 1 vocabulary focus, week 2 retrieval focus, week 3 inference focus
Times Tables Rock Stars logins will be stuck into the homework book and reading journal.
Spellings will link to the Year 3 spelling rule that has been taught that week.
Class Dojo
Please follow our Class Dojo page for photo updates of what is happening in our class on a day-to-day basis. We also use Class Dojo as a means of communication and you can contact Miss Cook via the private messaging service. You can also come and see us in Class 4 where we will be more than happy to help you.
Should you find you are off due to self-isolation for example, this is where home learning will also be communicated.
I look forward to a busy yet exciting year with you all!
Miss Cook
