Applying for Nursery

Places are available in our nursery from the term after your childs 3rd birthday. Parents are encouraged to visit our nursery prior to completing their application form and our dedicated and friendly nursery staff will make you feel very welcome.

Application forms are now available online from  Barnsley School Admissions. Parents can join the waiting list after the childs 2nd birthday. Admissions are managed by Barnsley Nursery admissions. Children are placed on the waiting list in date of birth order and will be offered a place during the term before their admission is to take place. On receipt of this letter, parents are asked to contact the school office who will share where places are available. Full days are subject to meeting the government criteria for 'Working Parents' who are both in 16 hours of employment or self employed earning a minimum salary of £152 per week.

Our morning session is tailored for children moving to F2 in the following academic year and our afternoon session is tailored for our youngest children who remain in nursery for a further academic year.

Governments Working Families Extended Hours

The nursery are supporting working parents with a 30 hour place. The school and governors have agreed to allocating 16 nursery places for children who can stay 31 hours without a charge. There is flexibility where a parent may choose 31 hours at no extra cost.

When you are offered 15 hours from school admissions you will have the opportunity to be considered for a working parents 30 hour place subject to a vacancy and you meet the governments criteria. School will provide a form to complete and you will need to register with HM Inland Revenue. The code you are allocated you will bring to school for checking. Once your code is checked you will join other parents who also are requesting a minimum of 28 hours upto 31 hours without a fee. In accordance with the LA admissions policy children are selected oldest to youngest until all 16 places are full.

It is parents responsibility to refresh the code every 3 months. As this is a working parents scheme families will keep their 31 hour place providing they continue with 16 hours of work or more (If self employed earn a minimum of £152 per week). If 16 or more hours employment is lost, hours are reduced or earning if self employed are under £152 by either partner or the single parent the place will revert back to a 15 hour place after a grace period.
