Remember, if you or your parents require any help and support don’t forget the Summer Lane home support email address homelearning@summerlaneprimary.co.uk

I have also included some additional websites including ones to support your reading where you can find free e-books which are colour banded, just like we have in school.

This Week's Home Learning Grid:

Read, read, read, read!

Here is our new online reading portal that you can use completely free at home. It is called MyOn and the link is below. It has over 1000 authentic books including nursery rhymes, poems, fiction and non-fiction, traditional tales, super heroes and science fiction as well as books about arts and crafts, baking, maths and English (where tou can practice skills and different objectives). Each book appears on the screan for you to read but also has and audio option too.

There is also a guide which I have posted below to help you navigate the website if you are struggling. See attachment below.

I have also found the following websites helpful to support you in reading at home:

  1. https://collins.co.uk/pages/big-cat-ebooks
  2. https://www.oxfordowl.co.uk/for-home/find-a-book/library-page/
https://connect.collins.co.uk/school/Portal.aspx  and click on the Teacher portal and enter: Username: parents@harpercollins.co.uk Password: Parents20!

As well as reading don’t forget to practice your phonic sounds! The DfE English Hubs hav started a daily phonics lesson which you will be able to acess throughout the summer term. This follows letters and sounds which our children are familiar with. From Monday there will be free daily phonics lessons on this YouTube channel -  https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCP_FbjYUP_UtldV2K_-niWw/featured?disable_polymer=1

There will be differentiated lessons depending on a child's year group and reading ability. Find out more about these lessons by clicking on the link below.

Please contact us on our Home Learning email service if you would like more help with teaching your child phonics and how to read.
